India will host the next edition of the ICC World Cup 2023. While India has hosted the tournament, this is the first time they will do so alone. In the past, India co-hosted the competition three times. It first co-hosted the tournament in 1987, before doing so again in 1996 and 2011. There have been 12 editions of the World Cup to date. The first edition took place in 1975 in England.
England are the defending champions, having won the trophy for the first time in 2019. Australia, on the other hand, is the most successful team in the history of the competition, having won it five times. The only other teams to have won the competition more than once are India and the West Indies, who have won it twice each.
