West Indies T20 Squad vs India: Shai Hope Captain, Kamil Pooran Gets First Call-Up

West Indies Announce T20 Squad for India: Shai Hope Captain, New Face Gets Maiden Call-Up

West Indies have announced their T20I squad for the upcoming five-match series against India, with Shai Hope set to lead the team. The West Indies will travel to India for a white-ball series featuring three ODIs and five T20Is. The T20I leg begins on October 6 in Lucknow and runs until October 17, with matches scheduled across five Indian cities.

Shai Hope Named West Indies T20 Captain

The biggest development from the West Indies T20 squad announcement is the appointment of Shai Hope as captain.

Hope has become an important part of West Indies’ limited-overs setup and will now lead the side against a strong Indian T20I team.

The 15-member squad contains a mixture of experienced international players and younger options as West Indies continue building towards future global T20 competitions.

Kamil Pooran Gets Maiden T20I Call-Up

One of the most interesting selections is Kamil Pooran.

The young batter has received his first call-up to the West Indies T20I squad. His selection gives him an opportunity to make his international debut against India.

The youngster will now be part of a squad containing several established West Indies players, giving him the chance to learn at the highest level.

Jason Holder Missing From T20 Squad

Experienced all-rounder Jason Holder is another notable name missing from the T20I squad.

Holder remains an important figure in West Indies cricket, but he has not been included for the five-match T20I series against India.

His absence means the selectors will have to rely on other all-round options to provide balance to the team.

John Campbell Returns For India Tour

Veteran opener John Campbell has also returned to the West Indies setup.

Campbell has been included in the ODI squad for the India tour after being away from international cricket. His return adds another experienced opening option for the Caribbean side.

The West Indies have therefore made changes across both white-ball squads while retaining several players who have featured regularly in their recent T20 setup.

The West Indies squad will depart the Caribbean on September 21 and arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on September 23.

A New Challenge For West Indies

The series against India will provide West Indies with an important opportunity to test their T20 combination.

The inclusion of Kamil Pooran gives the team another young batting option, while Hope’s leadership will be closely watched during the five matches.

For India, the series will also feature several interesting names, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav.

That sets up an intriguing battle between two sides with a mixture of established international players and emerging talent.

The first T20I between India and West Indies will be play in Lucknow on October 6.

With Shai Hope leading the Caribbean side and Kamil Pooran waiting for his potential international debut, the five-match series could provide several interesting storylines.
